Canggu is a resort town on the South coast of Bali, and boasts some of the best surfing on the island.
Rice fields meet volcanic rock with beautiful beaches, where you don't have to compromise on dining and nightlife, the island's newest tourist hotspot is a must for visitors.
The town has a much more laid back feel to it than neighbouring Seminyak and Kuta, which are respectively 12 and 15 kms away, and with a real hip vibe.
It stretches between Kerobokan and Echo beach, the main beaches of Canggu being Berawa, Nelayan and Batu Bolong. Canggu is chilled out, with many hypster cafes, fashionable boutiques and galleries with some great dining. Some chilled out restaurants playing cool music are to be found at Berawa beach. Whether you want to surf or be a spectator, swim, body surf, people watch, chill alone, cheap eats or elegant ocean side dining, Canggu really has it all. Accommodation in Canggu caters for all tastes and budgets. You have hostels, homestays and guest houses, bohemian villas and humble abodes, to elegant villas hidden away beneath the swaying coconut palms and top end international hotels.
Lots of cafes, restaurants and shops are along the main street, which is named Batu Bolong, the main action of Canggu is here, and the road leads to the main surf beach by “Old Mans” bar and restaurant, named after the surf break, this is a real institution in Canggu and a fun and hipster place to hang out.
The sunsets on Canggu's beaches are one of the best on the island, great way to end the day, a cold Bintang, watching the huge sun quickly drop out the sky....
