Once a year in September, Lovina, on the northern coast of Bali, in Buleleng, has it's annual festival. There are numerous activities, including cultural shows and dancing, many street vendors selling food, yummy "cumi", octopus, chicken balls, matarbark and fried bananas to name a few. Families and friends gather to watch and take part in the activities, eat great street food, and young men go out looking to make friends with young ladies. The colour run, where locals and expats alike cover themselves with coloured powder and run or walk
a 5km course, the money raised goes to help the local community. The festival continues for 4 consecutive days, morning yoga classes take place on the beach, followed by traditional art performances. A strong community spirit prevails, and as the night comes to an end, people drift off home tired and happy.
